How are the low-income, the disabled, and the elderly going to be able to purchase private HC insurance?
Hillary said that she would make it a "mandate" for all Americans to purchase private healthcare insurance. Romney and Guiliani say that people can purchase health care insurance through tax credits, and...? With 47 million uninsured Americans unable to get it, how can our candidates and government EXPECT people like me to able to afford between $1800 to $3000 a month private health insurance policies? Has anyone really put some serious *thought* into addressing this crisis with the uninsured and low-income--instead of just adding what I see as "Band-Aid" solutions to a growing problem here in the country?

- Here's a summary of the plan. http://www.hillaryclinton.com/feature/healthcareplan/summary.aspx
- How can the low income, disabled and elderly purchase health insurance? It is called Medicade. It is privatized now, so in actuality, it is health insurance at a reduced rate. The "mandate" is the start - after that, there will be the rate adjustments, making it more affordable, and it will be monitored by the government. I think it is a hell of a first step.
- Just like they do now. We, the taxpayers, pay for it.
- Actually her proposition has no impact on those of us who already have insurance. What she is saying is that those who do not, will have access to it with the assistance of the government - and that IS government's role after all. You could fund it in a heartbeat with the hundreds of BILLIONS being squandered in Iraq. And many of those billions by the way - are being spent to provide UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE for Iraqi citizens.
- Check out Dennis Kucinich (dennis4president.com) This is a person who has a real health care plan, a plan which is not for profit which is the only way I can see to provide health care for everyone. He seems to be for the people and against big corporations and I agree with his position on all the issues. He is not getting publicity because big business does not like him, but I find him exciting. Check it out.
- Here is a novel idea. How 'bout we secure our borders and stop illegals from coming in. This would help in two very tangible ways. 1. It would stop uninsured illegals for putting an economic drain on our current health care system. 2. Stopping the flow of cheap labor into the united states would drive the real wages of ordinary Americans up so that more would be able to afford health insurance.
- Well Ron Paul would make it so that you would pay less taxes all around, no health care for illegals, no money being spent in Iraq, By having a more efficient system, less riff Raff getting health benefits. It would make your premium less. also right now your working from Jan to what April just to pay your taxes. then you get taxed when you spend, taxed when you register your car etc etc. How about we reduce the size of our government that way it doesn't take 30% of our paychecks. I dont have health care right now, but i dont expect someone else to float the bill
