What is a country that has suffered due to lack of human rights?
Wellllll.... I need to write about when lack of human rights can cause a country to have economic disadvantage, poverty, bad health and sanitation, or political stability. i looked at north korea and a few others... but although they have lack of human rights, and have had famines which have killed hundreds of thousands of people etc... they aren't exactly DIRECTLY related to lack of human rights.

- Actually I think North Korea is an excellent example, but I can give you another country. China would be another example. Even though there are some areas in China that are well nourished and kept, I would have to say that the majority of the Chinese country is either at poverty level or below. The main reason for this is because of the government. The government chooses to let its population live below the poverty line. It is a lack of human rights because the government has turned a blind eye to the situation. Anytime you have many individuals that live within your district or country who are suffering from disease and starvation then you have to realize that the government isn't doing its job effectively. Another country that comes to my mind would be that of Africa. Now Africa does have some areas where the land is rich with resources like China, but once again you have masses of individuals who suffer from poverty. But besides poverty, I would say that the disease Aids or HIV run rampant throughout the population. Much of this is because the women and children in that country are raped by many of the male counterparts. And the government knowing that genocide and other types of brutality exist choose not to deal with the issue. There are other countries that have these same issues but I wanted to name just these two. Edit: Excuse me, continent, not country. Its an easy mistake to make to the poster below me. That was just a simple mistake.
- Friendly stranger: Africa is not a country. It's a continent composing 47 countries. Sudan is a prime example of the denial of human rights.
- North Korea, Somalia (the only anarchy of the world) the only two I know of currently existing in the world today. the past nations: soviet union, china (before all this modernization), those com-bloc nations, east Germany, some of those south American nations in the 1980s/1970s.
- Soviet Union
