specific examples on use of supply chain management in serving the bottom of pyramid.Thanks?

bottom of pyramid are largely not served by companies due to poor purchasing capacity.but in the developing world there are few examples of companies serving the poor who are at the bottom of the pyramid,Keen to know how they are serving the poor through use of economical supply chain and competitive products.based on this i am keen to see how it can be applied to India.

I am not at all clear about your question, but what you mean is how a company sells the products cheap to the poor people by using a supply chain, the answer is that, the out sourcing of distribution could be cost effective. Like if it is a food item, the storage, cooling, transport could be cheaper to hand over to a secondary party than having in house - in return reducing production cost. In India, since the country is large, when it comes to distribution, it will be better to out source delivery, that maintain a fleet of vehicles, pay drivers, have storage and may be cooling systems
